Revision as of 21:10, 2 May 2012

There have been some speculations about current mass ( the weight of your ship ) has an effect on how much you get hit. I have done some testing in an Atlas fighting one and the same Vorpal Fang. At first, I filled my ship with commodities like nebula gas and hydrogen gas to max capacity of 1750t and fought a Vorpal Fang for a total of 400 rounds. Then I did the same, but with an emptied Atlas ( actual weight was around 360t ). Here are the results. Full Atlas got hit 749 times with guns out of 2800 fired shots (26,75%) and 292 times with turrets out of 800 fired shots (36,5%). Together the hit ratio was around 28,916%. Empty Atlas got hit 700 times with guns out of 2800 fired shots (25%) and 323 times with turrets out of 800 fired shots (40,375%). Together the hit ratio was 28,416%.

Everyone can reach his own conclusion, but as the difference in ship mass was huge ( empty ship weighted only 20% of the filled up one ), it leads me to believe effective mass has a very little if any effect on how your ship behaves in combat.
